Trick or Treating at Crossroads Village

We decided to take Makenna to Crossroads Village, an oldtime village in Flint, to go trick or treating for the first time. They set up each of the attractions with a Halloween theme and pass out candy for everyone (adults included). So, Makenna got all dressed up as a monkey and off we went. Contrary to her facial expressions in these pictures, she did have a lot of fun. We received a Snugli from my sister when Makenna was born and have just started using it. Makenna LOVES this thing. I think she thinks she is walking around, because she will get her little legs just a-kicking and laugh.

They have little cut-out sections for photo-opportunities all over the village. We had to take advantage of a few of them. :^)

Chris was the pack-mule for the day. Mommy was the photographer. Uncle Bobby, Aunt Mary, and Lily were there too. I think Lily had the most fun out of everyone.

Milestones

Makenna is growing up so fast! I am already missing the tiny baby I brought home from the hospital just three short months ago. It is a true miracle how quickly they change.

So, Makenna's most recent milestones...

On Saturday, September 27th, I put Makenna on her tummy on the floor of her nursery while I started to put away her clean clothes. To my amazement, when I walked past her, her little eyes followed me all the way over from her tummy to her back. I was stunned for a moment, and I think she was too. We both just stared at each other for a minute. When I gained back my sensesand started cheering and clapping, she looked at me and just beamed. I think she was proud of herself. Of course, since I was the only person to witness this event, and Makenna would not repeat it, no one believed me that it actually happened. But Makenna and I know the truth.

As if that were not enough, the very next Saturday, October 4th, I was working at my Mom's linen business with Makenna. I had her sitting in her carseat and she was getting somewhat bored and fussy. I started shaking her rattle for her and it looked like she was reaching out for it. So I put it in her hand, and to my surprise, she started shaking it herself. She looked at the rattle, shook it, then looked at me and smiled. It was like she was saying "I did that!" And this time, I took video with my phone.
